Veterans Day Intraday

A quick look at today’s Veterans Day intraday stats, especially with respect to a potential magnitude of change on the intraday low.

Table I below shows all historical occurrences and the Dow Jones Industrial Average‘s intraday performance on the last 20 Veterans Days (always on November 11) or the session immediately preceeding Veterans Day if November 11 was a Saturday or Sunday.

Interesting to note that the Dow Jones Industrial Average‘s was always trading below the previous session’s close at least once on Veterans Day (or the session immediately preceeding Veterans Day if it was a Saturday or Sunday).

With S&P futures currently up 1.0% at time of writing (15 minutes before the open) calling for another gap up on the open, lets see if this time will be different …

Successful trading,

Frank

Remarks: Due to their conceptual scope – and if not explicitly stated otherwise – , all models/setups/strategies do not account for slippage, fees and transaction costs, do not account for return on cash and/or interest on margin, do not use position sizing (e.g. Kelly, optimal f) – they’re always ‘all in‘ – , do not use leverage (e.g. leveraged ETFs), do not utilize any kind of abnormal market filter (e.g. during market phases with extremely elevated volatility), do not use intraday buy/sell stops (end-of-day prices only), and models/setups/strategies are not ‘adaptive‘ (do not adjust to the ongoing changes in market conditions like bull and bear markets).
